toSend vs Postmark

Postmark is excellent. It's also priced by the plan.

Postmark is a careful, well-run email service, and it has features we don't. If what you need is reliable sending for your sites and your clients' sites without a monthly plan, toSend costs a fraction as much.

What you'd pay each month

Postmark sells monthly plans in volume steps. At 100,000 emails you pay for the 125,000 plan. toSend charges for the emails you actually send.

Emails a month toSend Postmark
10,000 $3 $15 Basic, 10K plan
100,000 $30 $115 Basic, 125K plan
1,000,000 $300 $775 Basic, 1.5M plan

Choose toSend if

  • You'd rather pay per email than pick a monthly plan and pay for the step above your volume.
  • You run sites for clients and want one balance and one invoice across all of them.
  • You send from more than 5 domains and don't want to move to Platform to do it.
  • You're on WordPress and want the plugin and the email service from the same team.
  • You want email logs and content stored in the EU.

Choose Postmark if

  • You need inbound email, open and click tracking, or stored templates.
  • You want delivery and open events sent to your webhooks, with retries.
  • You need 45 days of history or more.
  • Several people need their own login to the same account.
  • You need a dedicated IP.

Switching from Postmark

You don't have to move everything at once. toSend runs alongside Postmark, so you can move one site or app first and keep the rest where they are.

Full migration guide: field map, SMTP settings and webhook events

  1. Create a toSend account and add your domain. Our DNS records use their own names (tosend._domainkey and send), so they sit alongside your Postmark records and nothing stops working while you test.
  2. Wait for the domain to verify. We check every 10 minutes and activate it as soon as the records are visible. On Cloudflare, one click adds them.
  3. Point one site or app at toSend: choose toSend in FluentSMTP on WordPress, change the SMTP host and password, or swap the API call for one of our SDKs.
  4. Send a test and find it in your toSend logs. When you're happy, move the next site. Keep your Postmark account until the last one has moved.

Questions

Is toSend cheaper than Postmark at every volume?

Yes, at list prices. 10,000 emails cost $3 on toSend and $15 on Postmark's Basic plan. At 100,000 it's $30 against $115, and at a million it's $300 against $775.

Does toSend separate message streams like Postmark?

Not in the same way. toSend separates by team: each client or project gets its own team with its own domains, logs and sending reputation. There's no split between transactional and broadcast streams inside a team.

Can I keep Postmark while I try toSend?

Yes. Our DNS records don't replace Postmark's, so both can be set up on the same domain. Move one site or app, check it in the logs, then move the rest.

Postmark figures are list prices and documented limits from postmarkapp.com/pricing, checked 27 September 2026. Monthly cost is the cheapest Postmark plan that covers the volume, before tax. toSend costs $0.30 per 1,000 emails at every volume.
