Your email data, stored in the EU.
For every team, email logs, email content and suppression lists are stored in the European Union. Teams that need it can also send from Frankfurt. Here's exactly what that covers, and what it doesn't.
Stored in the EU, for every team
This applies whichever region a team sends from. There's nothing to switch on.
| Data | Where |
|---|---|
| Email logs (recipients, subjects, statuses) | EU |
| Email content (HTML, text, attachments) | EU, deleted after 14 days |
| Suppression list | EU |
| Webhook delivery logs and sending metrics | EU |
| Dashboard and account data | Germany (EU) |
Send from Frankfurt
Each team has a sending region, chosen when the team is created: Global (USA), the default, or EU (Frankfurt). A team on the EU region sends every email from Germany.
- Choose the region when you sign up, or when you create a team
- Mix regions in one account: some client teams in the EU, some not
- EU teams show a flag in the team menu
- Same price in both regions
What isn't EU-only
We'd rather you hear it from us than find it in a subprocessor list.
- Request handling
- API requests are handled at the network location closest to your server. SMTP connections pass through our relay in the United States, which forwards each message on and stores nothing.
- A short-lived cache
- To keep sending fast, account settings, API key lookups and suppressed addresses are cached in locations worldwide.
- Sending, on the Global region
- Teams on the Global (USA) region send from the United States. Teams on the EU region send from Frankfurt.
- Payments
- Card payments are handled by Stripe in the United States.
EU questions
Does the EU region cost more?
No. Every team pays $0.30 per 1,000 emails, whichever region it sends from, and all teams draw from the same credit balance.
Can I move an existing team to the EU?
A team's region is fixed when it's created. To move sending to the EU, create a new team on the EU region, add and verify your domain there, create an API key, and switch your app to it. Your stored data is already in the EU either way.
Is this full data residency?
No, and we don't claim it is. Your email data is stored in the EU, but requests are handled worldwide, a short-lived cache runs globally, and SMTP passes through a US relay. The lists above cover every exception.
Do you sign a DPA?
Yes. Our Data Processing Agreement applies to every customer and includes the Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers. No signature is needed, and a signed PDF is available on request.
How long do you keep my data?
Email logs and email content are deleted after 14 days. Webhook delivery logs are kept for 7 days. Suppressed addresses stay on your list until you remove them.
